Young Bull Hunt Info
This is a half-day hunt, or a full day if your group takes more than one animal.
These are year-and-a-half-old bulls pushing 850 pounds on the hoof and putting roughly 215 pounds of boned meat in the freezer. They’re young, hard-charging bison built for the open country—and what a way to take your first. It’s a true bison hunt from start to finish—rugged country, a hard-earned stalk, and outstanding table fare when the work is done.
Hunts begin at 8:00 A.M., Monday through Saturday. We book one party per day, with up to three animals taken.
Our hunts run from September through the end of November, putting you in the field during some of the best fall hunting weather of the year. Your three-animal limit can be filled with any combination of young bulls and heifers, giving you the freedom to shape the hunt around the experience you’re after—and the meat you want to take home.
Our guides field dress your bison and load it onto your open bed pickup or trailer.
All hunters must be at least 15 years old. These hunts reward practice and accuracy, so they are best suited to experienced hunters. A big game rifle is required, and close-range weapons are not permitted, including black powder rifles, handguns, and bows. See our firearms information for full details.
Our crew field dresses your animal and loads it onto your open bed pickup or open trailer. Arranging a processor in advance and hauling the animal to them is your responsibility, and we have information on recommended processors near the ranch on our Processing page. Lodging and meals are your responsibility and are available in Wheatland, 30 miles from the ranch.
