Young Heifer Hunt Info
This is a half-day hunt, or a full day if your group takes more than one animal.
These are year-and-a-half-old heifers running up to 750 pounds on the hoof and yielding as much as 200 pounds of boned meat. This is the tenderest meat we raise—and one of the best values on the ranch. Take one home and you’ve got a freezer full of lean, all-natural, pasture-fed protein to carry you through the year. It’s good eating, honest meat, and a whole lot of bison for your dollar.
Hunts begin at 8:00 A.M., Monday through Saturday. We book one party per day, with up to three animals taken.
Young heifer hunts run from September through the end of November, putting you in the field during prime fall hunting season. We don’t hunt Sundays, but the rest of the week is yours.
Your three-animal limit can be filled with any combination of young heifers and bulls, giving you the freedom to build the hunt around the experience you want and the meat you want to take home.
All hunters must be at least 15 years old. These hunts reward practice and accuracy, so they are best suited to experienced hunters. A big game rifle is required, and close-range weapons are not permitted, including black powder rifles, handguns, and bows. See our firearms information for full details.
Our crew field dresses your animal and loads it onto your open bed pickup or open trailer. Arranging a processor in advance and hauling the animal to them is your responsibility, and we have information on recommended processors near the ranch on our Processing page. Lodging and meals are your responsibility and are available in Wheatland, 30 miles from the ranch.
